Dear friend,
I used to think changing direction meant I had gotten something wrong.
That if I had planned carefully enough, worked hard enough, or prayed clearly enough, the path in front of me would make sense.
But lately, I’ve been learning that sometimes the path changes because you have.
And sometimes, what comes next was never part of your original plan.
I think that’s one of the hardest things about letting go.
We spend so much of our lives making plans for people we haven’t become yet.
We decide what success will look like. Where we’ll live. What we’ll do. Who we’ll become. We attach timelines to our dreams and expectations to our prayers. And somewhere along the way, those plans can become promises we feel obligated to keep ... even when they no longer fit the person we are becoming.
It is true what scripture says "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails" Proverbs 19:21
Nevertheless, there is still a level of grief that comes with letting go. Not letting go of something bad, but letting go to receive something better.
What are you holding onto because it still belongs to you ... and what are you holding onto simply because it once did?
Letting go, lead me to In Service ... let's see how this goes.
